Writes from Austrailia, Looking for Shawna Escovedo and Sara
Aradillas
Webmaster, I was recently directed to
the Lompoc Online site and was delighted. I only lived in Lompoc for
two years in the late seventies, but I have very strong and fond
memories of the town, and made many good friends there.
And it is of some of those friends that I write.
I've lost touch with two people I went to high school with, and
with whom I was friends (one by letters/phone and the other in
person when she came to be in my wedding party and ended up married
to one of the groomsman and stayed in our area). I'd very much like
to renew my contact with them.
The first is Shawn (also known as Shawna) Escovedo, whose mother,
Bridgette (I'm unsure of the spelling, but that's my best guess),
owned an apartment complex in the late seventies and early eighties.
Shawn graduated from Lompoc High School in 1982 and the last I heard
from her, she was living in San Diego and had married a musician
named Dean Hinton. Any help in locating her would be greatly
appreciated, as we have much to catch up on!
The second is Sara Aradillas (later Sara McGonigal). She was also
in the class of 1982, and as far as I know her two sisters (Rosemary
and Maria) still live in Lompoc. Last I knew, her mother did, as
well, but other than the last name, I don't recall Sara's mother's
name at all. The last I heard from Sara, she had divorced and was
living in California (I don't recall the city, but it wasn't Lompoc)
with her three children. She contacted me a few years back and I
managed to lose her phone number and haven't been able to track her
down since, much to my regret.
My website is http://bonni.net/
and I can be contacted that way or directly by email at bonni@spamcop.net. I'm now
living in Australia, but I'd be really pleased to be able to send
email or write letters to either or both of these friends if I can
just locate them. Thank you for any help you can provide. -- Bonni Hall

Asks Your Help In Finding These Dear Old Friends
Hi Lompoc ! I lived in Lompoc from '70 to '74, graduated Lompoc
High in 1974.. I still love Lompoc and miss it very much ( By the
way, I consider myself a "LompocIAN" and never heard the term
"LompocAN" during the 4 years I lived there !) . I've tried for many
years and methods to find certain old friends, sometimes successful
sometimes not, so this is a last ditch effort to find the friends
that I mention here !
I'd like to ask your help to find the following dear old friends
from high school: Rhonda Rains , (whom I think would have graduated
from Lompoc High in '74 had she not moved away.) I last saw Rhonda
in Lompoc while there on a brief visit in 1984 and I think she has
family in town but I have no idea what their names are.... Also,
Becky Arnold (Maple High '73) , Laura Arnold (went to Cabrillo High
in '71) and Nancy Arnold (Maple High ' 74), (all sisters) and their
sweet mom, Lorraine who as I recall was studying to become a nurse..
The Arnolds moved to Salem, Oregon in about 1972 where they lived on
High Street. I last saw them in Salem in '74 but sadly lost track of
them in my post high school days of roaming the country.. Any info
on the wherabouts of these dear old friends would be GREATLY
appreciated. Yes they are all girls (women now) but they weren't
"girlfriends", just really good friends who I have missed for 25
years !!
There are many other friends I would like to hear from too so if
you remember me, please drop me an email ! Thanks in advance for any
help !
Cheers,
Robert ("Bob" / "Bubba") Baker

Reminisces: Lompoc's Special View
Good Afternoon:
After being gone from Lompoc since 1985, I
find that the old hometown still has its calling. I live in Red
Bluff, Calif now .(The home of Tom Hanks) And plan on staying here.
I do from time to time Return. I have retired after 30 years with
the California Dept of Forestry , As A Fire Captain. I have spent
many of hours fighting fire all over the state. But there is always
a special feeling when I Drive over Harris Grade and stop about half
way down, at the big turn out and look over the valley .
Yes
lompoc does have a special view.

doing. Please contact me with any information.
Also does anyone have any information on Mrs. Roberta Gallina?

Looking for Army Bud, Calvin Carlisle
Hello, my name is George Lugo. I was in the U.S. Army from
1974-75.I was stationed in Kitzigen, Germany. That's when
I befriended an Anglo man named Calvin Carlisle. He's an Anglo,
about 5'10 with sandy blonde hair,he wore glasses , was pretty
thin at the time. Among lifting weights, shooting pool, we
used to always talk about our love for cars. Chevy's, Corvettes,
and Camaros. Him being an Anglo, and myself being Latin, he
gave me the nick name of Muchacho. At the time I was
22, I remember him being about 12 years older, he should be
about 60 by now. I remember helping him train for weapons
specialist and Arms room work. We were Company A, 1/64th
armor division. He always said that as soon as he got
out of the Army, he would go home to Lompoc and his Corvettes.
I don't no know what else to describe about my old friend,
butif you know of him, or know someone else who does, please
send me an e-mail to : lugz_lugoa@hotmail.com. I
would appriciate any further information you might have.
Thank you.

Fur Critters by June at Jenger's Exclusive Expressions
in Solvang?
Hello, My name is Chris.
Several years ago, around 1987, I bought several sets of June
Redfields bears. I believe it was "Fur Critters by June".
I bought them from a store called Jenger's Exclusive Expressions.
I was wondering if you knew how I could get in touch with
either of these people, places? I live in Nevada now and do
not get to Ca. that often. I have tried everything I can think
of to find a web site but have had no luck. The store was
in Solvang.
I would greatly appreciate your help!!! My e-mail address
is panic@teknett.com. Again, thank
you for your time.
Sincerely, Chris

Lompoc Memories...
Hi. My name is Claudia Reddekopp Kruger
and I'm Deanna Reddekopp Hernandezs' sister. (See "Lompoc Memories",
below.) She sent an e-mail about her experiences in Lompoc as
a student at Los Burros, etc. I'm 81/2 years older than Deanna
and have a somewhat different frame of reference.
I went to school there from the fifth grade out at La Mesa
grade school in Vandenberg Village through my senior year
at Cabrillo High School which was in 1969. I was a member,
throughout most of my high school years, of a really great
city drill team called the Precisionnaires. We marched in
all the local parades and once in awhile out of town in places
like Santa Barbara and San Bernardino.
Deanna and I have two brothers that graduated from Lompoc
High school. Jerry in 1964 and Wayne, I believe in, 66 or
67. We have another brother, Jeff, between Deannas and my
age, that attended Cabrillo, as I did, and graduated in about
1974. Our father, Dean Reddekopp worked in a couple of places
in Lompoc as a really reputable mechanic and ended up as an
instuctor over at Allan Hancock college in the late 1960's.
Our mom worked as a nurse at the hospital in Lompoc. I married,
very young, and divorced, also very young, a local boy named
Melvin Ostlie who these days resides in Dallas, Texas. We
had one daughter, Renee, in 1969. I've been remarried for
22 years to a wonderful man from Montana and we reside in
the beautiful little town of Cody, Wyoming. We have two children
of our own, one in college and another who will be in college
next year.
It's nice of you to have this web site for peope to keep
up to date on each other. You never know when an old friend
might see you there and get in touch.
Thanks a lot, Claudia
Kruger

Lompoc
Memories
from Deanna (Reddekopp)
Hernandez
Thank you for your Lompoc
Web site! I lived in Lompoc from 1962 until 1974 (my childhood
years) and will always consider it as my "home town". My parents
moved myself and four siblings down from Oregon so that my Dad
could live in a "drier" climate for health reasons. They purchased
a house in Mission Hills in the lower tract, only a half block
from Los Berros Elementary school, when those homes were brand
new. I remember growing up there so vividly. There were fires
every summer and we would have to hose down our roof to protect
our house from flying ashes.
We would sometimes hike
or bike to nearby La Purisima Mission and picnic after taking the tour.
Do you know the ghost story about the cross there? We must have
told it 100 times!
I learned to play the
accordian in Lompoc. I can't remember my teacher's name, although
her image is still vivid. She was very strict but I learned
well. I also remember the missile launches. They definitely make the Lompoc
area unique!
I now live in the desert southwest
on the Colorado River. I often think of Lompoc and will visit
again someday. Again, thank you for your web-page.
